The Dutch Foundation for Peace Studies congratulates Ana Gabriela Rojo Fierro (University of Amsterdam) for winning the Visions on Peace Master Thesis Prize 2020 with her thesis: “From the everyday to the extraordinary: Cherán as a story of hope in the midst of war“. Read her summary here.
The Visions on Peace Master Thesis Prize 2020 was awarded on December 21 by dr. Amanda Cawston (Tilburg University) during the online symposium “Peace Studies in the Netherlands: The State of Affairs“. The symposium hosted over 80 participants and was organized in collaboration with the Institute of Security and Global Affairs at the Campus the Hague, Leiden University.
The other nominees were Erin Bijl (Utrecht University) with her thesis: “Buddhism besieged: Anti-Muslim narratives and the emergence of a ‘securitizing alliance’ in Myanmar’s political transition from 2010-15“, and Michelle Rudolph (Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University) with her thesis: “Water governance under occupation: A contemporary analysis of the water insecurities of Palestinians in the Jordan Valley, West Bank“.
